The Elizabeth Hansen Autumn Centre in Maylands provides accommodation for up to 36 Aboriginal renal patients from remote areas while they are in Perth for Dialysis treatment.

As part of a 2005 PALS Schools Reconciliation Awards project, Upper Primary children from Riverlands (Montessori) School in the Swan Valley visit the Autumn Centre every Wednesday afternoon. They engage in craft activities, spend time talking and sharing stories together.

The children's presence in the centre contributes to a good spirit of place, while they learn first-hand about cultures that would otherwise be unknown to them. Both the children and the residents look forward to their Wednesdays together. You will find heart warming and compassionate stories on these pages.

The Riverlands project was supported by an ENRICH PALS project grant from the Department of Indigenous Affairs (DIA) and Riverlands School parents. PALS is presented by the DIA and BHP Billiton Iron Ore.
